Textile Care

General Care:

It is recommended to avoid using Fabric Softener in all commerical washes, as this affects the absorbency and effectiveness of linen products.

Towel Care:

We recommend the following steps when first receiving your linen order:

Wash first in a hot wash / cold rinse to ensure all dressing is removed from the pile.

This locks the fabric loops together, shrinks & enhances the pile of the towel.

Cut off any loose threads to ensure nothing will catch in future washes.

Additional Tips:

Avoid using peroxide based bleaches as this will adversely affect life expectancy.

Do not use fabric softener.

Wash dark colours in a separate wash as these have more dye that can run in to other products.

Do not overload washing machine as this reduces the effectiveness of the washing process.

Wash Towels separately from cleaning products to ensure no chemicals are transferred.

Tumble dry for best results (this will ensure a soft fluffy towel).

Do not over-dry or set dryer to too high a temperature (we do not recommend drying above 80 deg C).

Avoid storing on concrete floors or timber as this may stain the towel.

Store in a dry area out of direct sunlight.

Sheet Care:

Initial Washing Process:

The first wash should be at a very hot temperature (at least 80 degrees C).

Remove from the dryer before completely dry & immediately press them on a very hot setting (up to 180 degrees C). This process seals the fabrics memory and minimises the need for future pressing.

This process can be repeated at a later date to address bad creasing.

Day to Day Care:

Wash at a constant temperature to avoid shrinkage & creasing.

Avoid over-filling the washing machine & dryer for best results.

Tumble dry at no more than 100 degrees C then remove from dryer and fold immediately.

Tablecloth Care:

Warm machine wash.

Light, warm tumble dry or line dry.

Fold immediately upon completion of drying to avoid creasing.

We suggest a very light, delicate wash, and cool dryer temperature.

If badly stained we suggest spraying with Sard before washing.

It is recommended that 100% polyester tablecloths are not pressed.

Quilted Blanket care:

While almost all synthetic fibre pillows and duvets are washable by industry standards terms, most do not withstand repeated washings very well.  The problem is that just a  slight excess amount of heat in the washing process can bond the fibres together, which result in flat and lumpy pillows/duvets.  Also with every washing some of the silicone coating used to prevent the fibres from bunching is washed away.

When a pillow/duvet is washed in a commercial washer, it is spun at a high rate of speed.  The fibre is pushed to the ends of the pillow/duvet by centrifugal force.  Then in this state, the pillow/duvet is put into a commercial dryer, which can “Cook” the pillow/duvet into two lumps in each side.  If you must wash a pillow/duvet, it should be done on the gentlest cycle available and drying should be completed for 60-120 minutes using a very low setting.
